Explosion in Kabul, 33 wounded brought to our Surgical Centre

Today, at two o’clock in the afternoon local time, the Afghan capital was hit by yet another explosion. The blast struck near a hussainia, or Shiite congregational hall, in the Qala-e-Fathullah neighbourhood, and claimed many victims.

33 people have been brought to our Surgical Centre so far. ‘Among them were six children. Another six patients arrived already dead,’ explains Dejan Panic, our coordinator in Kabul. ‘Barely a month ago, dozens of people were victims of an explosion during prayers in a Shiite mosque here in the city. Today’s explosion was also outside a mosque, right after the time of prayer, and claimed a greater number of victims, all civilians. There is no peace in Kabul.
