Fighting in Bangui yet again
Saturday, November 1, 2014
Temi:
After a truce lasted a couple of weeks, fighting started again yesterday in Bangui.
A couple of miles from our Paediatric Centre, there have been new clashes between international forces and the Anti-balaka.
In the evening, at the Complexe Pédiatrique, the public hospital where we work, we received two children with gunshot wounds.
A 5-year-old girl had a bullet wound in her abdomen; a 13-year-old boy died on arrival: he had been injured by a rocket.
This morning, another child was injured by a stray bullet: fortunately this is a superficial wound and we have already discharged him.
Today, there is still a lot of tension, even in front of our Paediatric Centre. The situation in Bangui is totally unpredictable.
