Lashkar-gah, battles are now a few kilometres from the city

In Lashkar-gah, in the southwest of Afghanistan, the war continues to create victims.

In addition to bombardments, there are also battles a few kilometres from the city, now completely surrounded by Taliban militias. Most roads are now unusable. Our staff is shut into our Surgical Centre for War Victims, having stockpiled fuel, gas, oxygen, food, water, and medications. The hospital’s position is constantly made aware to all of the belligerents, who are asked to respect the facilities, patients, and personnel. In the meantime, the operating rooms are working non-stop.

Our thanks and thoughts go to all the colleagues — doctors, nurses, and technicians — who have decided to stay in this dangerous situation, to keep treating the victims of the madness of war.
