Latest Update Following 17 August Explosion in Kabul

Temi:

“Most of the injuries were caused by shrapnel and burns. Our surgeons were operating throughout the night.”

Stefano, EMERGENCY’s Country Director from Afghanistan, updates us on the explosion that struck worshippers praying in a mosque in Kabul yesterday.

Our Surgical Centre received 35 people in total following the explosion. 24 were hospitalised, while 8 others received outpatient care and were discharged. 3 people unfortunately did not survive due to the severity of their injuries.

At the moment, the hospital is working at full capacity: out of the total number of beds available, only eight remain free.
