Life Cannot Wait

She was born in our hospital in Lashkar-Gah, Afghanistan – a Surgical Centre for War Victims in Helmand province. Her mother was nine months pregnant when she was brought to us with a wounded abdomen. She is one of the many people injured by fighting that has erupted around the city in recent days.

Our surgeons had to perform a caesarean section: despite the conflict, life cannot wait.
