We Maintain Our Focus.

Afghanistan is still devastated by the aftermath of conflict. Its people continue to be harmed, trapped in a cycle of violence, endemic poverty, displacement, pain, and loss.

The latest UNAMA Report, issued yesterday, documents 2,106 civilian victims of violence between 15 August and 15 June 2022, predominantly caused by improvised explosive devices. Our Surgical Centres in Kabul and Lashkar-Gah have treated thousands of patients in the same period.

We continue providing care – in the same places, with the same devotion, and while the media spotlight may have moved on. We maintain our focus and remain committed to the belief that healthcare is a human right.

Afghanistan has been trampled on by war and its recent abandonment by the international community.

"The international community deserted Afghanistan, leaving the country in chaos. We have a moral duty to give the Afghan people back what is theirs. People’s rights and dignity should always be the common goal of our interventions.”

Rossella Miccio, President of EMERGENCY.
