World Blood Donor Day 2019
World Blood Donor Day means a lot to us – not only because the surgeries we perform around the world rely on donated blood, but also because of our work with the National Blood Bank in Bangui, Central African Republic.
Since we began supporting the Blood Bank in 2014, the number of blood bags distributed annually has risen from 4,000 to 21,000. 95% of these are used in life-saving treatments, and all are provided free of charge.
Our work in the Central African Republic has contributed to a functioning and well-organised blood donation system that will continue to flourish, thanks to the generosity of thousands of people who give their time, effort, and blood to help others.
This project is funded by AICS, Italian Agency For Development Cooperation.
