The SAR Team Leader is the focal point for the RHIB’s team on board SAR operations. The role requires the complete management of the SAR Team, SAR operations and related pre and post recovery activities. The role requires the complete management of the dynamics arising from the rescue at sea on board the RHIB and to the mother ship.
Each phase will be managed in close collaboration with the Commander and the SAR coordinator. The SAR Team Leader reports directly to the SAR Coordinator.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership
· Lead, motivate, and inspire a team of search and rescue professionals.
· Provide direction, guidance, and support to team members during search and rescue operations.
· Conduct regular team meetings to ensure effective communication and coordination.
· Foster a positive and collaborative team environment
Training & Development
· Train the staff in order to provide a skilled, coordinated and professional Rescue Team.
· Create the training material and updates it.
· Supervise and leads the training program (general and specifics SAR Training, Sea Training and Drills)
· Provide mentorship and guidance to team members to support their professional development.
· Plans the professional development of each individuals and the roles interchangeability, considering the needs of the project and the personal needs of the Sar Team members.
Organisation & Management
· Plan the Sar Team’s long-term jobs and coordinate the daily basis job.
· Assign duties and responsibilities to each crewmember
· Supervise the Bridge Watch and make sure it is organized and followed through
· Attend Bridge and Focal Point meetings
· Organize, supervise and lead Operational/Technical meetings
· Take tactical decisions and coordinate the Rescue Team during rescue operations on scene, in coordination with the SARCo
· Supervise the different checklists (Deck, Rhibs, Weekly)
· Supervise the Sar Team’s Hospitality duties.
· Organize and supervise the briefings and de-briefings.
· Supervise the Pre-P.O.S. operations.
· Supervise that all reports, handovers, enquiries are done.
· Participate in the evaluation of all the Sar Team Members together with the SAR HR Manager.
NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in Central Mediterranean Sea and/or Aegean Sea SAR operations.
- Navigation experience
