Afghanistan: Kabul under attack
This morning, several explosions, followed by gunfire, have hit different areas of Kabul.
The first explosion occurred at the entrance to a police station near Dashte Barchi, a district in the west of the city, a second near another police station in Shar-e-Naw, in the centre of Kabul and about one kilometre from the EMERGENCY hospital. There are numerous ongoing attacks that are continuing to affect several districts of the Afghan capital where, at around 3.30 pm local time, a strong earthquake was also registered.
This morning, Kabul is under attack and Afghanistan remains one of the deadliest places in the world for civilians. The number of civilian victims of suicide attacks is constantly increasing, making up 22% of all victims – of which there were over 10,400 in 2017.
So far, 6 patients have arrived at the EMERGENCY Surgical Centre, one of whom was already dead on arrival.
