In the last 24 hours, we have admitted more than 30 wounded victims, with the entire Emergency staff of the hospital there to guarantee the necessary treatment. We have communicated our hospital’s coordinates to all the parties in the conflict, and have requested that the hospital be respected as a neutral facility, and that the wounded be allowed to arrive there.
Emergency opened the Lashkargah Surgical Centre in 2004, to provide free surgical treatment to the victims of war. So far, the centre’s staff has treated over 150 thousand wounded victims, 30% of them children. The Lashkargah hospital is a referral centre for patients at First Aid Posts in the villages of Grishk, Garmsir, Marjia, Sangin, Musa Qala, Shoraky, and Urmuz.
