COVID-19: Our work around the world

In our projects all over the world the activities continue.

In all our projects around the world, we have activated specific protocols to prepare for the arrival of the virus, even in countries not affected by the pandemic so far. Through specific staff training, the formation of triage areas, and the compartmentalisation of spaces and patient flows, we will be able to intercept suspected cases, report them to the health authority responsible, and minimise the risk of infection within our facilities.

Afghanistan: This Work Will Continue

Afghanistan has been at war for over 40 years and now faces a new challenge: the COVID-19 outbreak.

Our Programme Coordinator in Kabul, Marco, updates us on the latest. He is concerned about what is to come. But we are all able to influence the trajectory of this pandemic. We are in Afghanistan to save lives, and guarantee free and high-quality medical care. This work will continue.

Giacomo Menaldo, Hospital Manager at the Salam Centre for Cardiac Surgery, has provided us with a thorough picture of how the COVID-19 situation in Sudan continues to evolve, and how EMERGENCY’s healthcare facilities are adapting.

EMERGENCY is already responding to the outbreak in Italy, where our team is “learning a lot and sharing all this knowledge.”

Giacomo raises an important point: cooperation and solidarity are key. Through sharing expertise, we can overcome this crisis and continue our medical support.
