EMERGENCY’s intervention in Iraq is concentrated in the northern part of the Country, an area densely populated with mines, bordering Iran and Turkey. Despite their production being banned today in Italy, many of these mines were manufactured in Italy, a legacy of a time when our Country was one of the worlds largest producers of mines.

Historically linked to the physical and social rehabilitation of the victims of these weapons, our Programme in Iraq has expanded in recent years to meet the health needs emerging from the mass influx of refugees and IDPs fleeing war in the area and from the victims of the fighting in Mosul.
