A Special Ceremony at EMERGENCY’s Entebbe Children’s Surgical Hospital.

Temi:

After six months of medical activities, we were finally able to host a special ceremony at EMERGENCY’s Entebbe Children’s Surgical Hospital. Based on the shores of Lake Victoria, the hospital provides paediatric surgery to children from Uganda and across the African continent.

Today we received an official visit from the Ugandan government and health authorities, which had previously been delayed due to COVID restrictions.

The Children’s Surgical Hospital is an ambitious, cutting-edge healthcare project based on a simple idea – the right to receive free, high-quality healthcare. The hospital itself is “outrageously beautiful” – that was the initial brief received by architect Renzo Piano, who designed the facility pro bono.

Since medical activities began in April, the hospital has so far admitted 345 patients, whilst 1,185 more were treated as outpatients. 355 surgical operations have taken place and the average patient age is five years old.
