THANK YOU!

Over 20,000 attendees joined us for “The Voice”, the fifth annual EMERGENCY Festival, across more than 50 events and with over 80 guest speakers to discuss the present, create space for human rights, and imagine an alternative future, together.

To our guests, volunteers and staff, to those who support EMERGENCY and the Festival, to the city of Reggio Emilia for welcoming us once again: THANK YOU.

The Voice,
the 2025 EMERGENCY Festival

Are our voices heard? What resonance do people’s voices – individuals or groups – have with those who govern? What is the echo of the voice rejecting war?

There are voices of journalists and aid workers who, under bombs, share the truth of war; of activists, who keep fighting despite the risk of imprisonment and violence; of people who want the right to define themselves; of people reclaiming squares, streets, roads and ports against repression, war and poverty; of young people, occupying spaces to claim their right to a future.

The 2025 Festival is entitled The Voice, to create spaces of confrontation where we can start to imagine and build a fairer, more equal society.

Let’s practise and claim our human rights, loudly and clearly. Even when the world seems to be moving in the opposite direction, we can and must find an alternative way.

For over 30 years, EMERGENCY has been treating people whose lives are impacted by those who choose war as a means of resolving international disputes, and by those who fuel poverty.

Whether they are voices in the middle of the sea or under threat of attack, in suburbs, prisons, the countryside or ghettos, we are committed to ensuring that each and every one is heard.

A Sustainable Festival

We have always strived to carry out our activities with the utmost respect for the environment. We are aware that social justice and environmental justice are closely linked.

For the 2025 edition of the EMERGENCY Festival, good environmental sustainability practices have been implemented in full compliance with relevant regulations, contributing to the fight against climate change, such as:

  • reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions, including through the use of sustainable mobility services;
  • reducing waste production, encouraging reuse and recycling practices and supporting circular economy models;
  • promoting low environmental impact production, including in the food sector, alongside awareness efforts;
  • spreading awareness of environmental sustainability and social responsibility among all those involved in the event: users, staff, suppliers and local communities.
