BACKGROUND AND ORGANISATION OF WORK

EMERGENCY is planning to start a project focused on delivering primary care services in the Gaza strip. The project will consist of a 24/7 outpatient fixed facility that will ensure stabilization and referral of emergency conditions, grant continuity of care for patients with chronic diseases and provide maternal and childcare.

The main objectives will be to provide care for:
• Acute trauma and non-trauma cases;
• Community-based primary care for basic communicable and non-communicable diseases;
• Basic reproductive, maternal and child health services;

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

All EMERGENCY international personnel is expected to know and follow the admissions criteria, guidelines, protocols, and the diagnosis and treatment standards in use in the Centre, and to ensure the correct compilation of clinical records and statistics in both computer and paper formats.

The main duties and responsibilities of the Internal/Emergency Medicine Specialist are:

• coordination and organization of the health care activities;
• providing primary care services;
• coordination of medical intervention in the field, if needed
• training of local staff

MANAGEMENT AND TRAINING OF LOCAL PERSONNEL

Clinical activities and patient care are always carried out alongside and in collaboration with local personnel, who thus benefit from training in the field.

NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS

• Medical Degree, and current professional registration on the medical board of your country of residence;
• Specialization in Internal Medicine/Emergency Medicine;
• At least 5 years of professional experience in emergency settings;
• Previous experience in conflict/disaster areas in the field;
• Experience in team management;
• Training experience;
• Good working knowledge of the English language (C1 level).

REQUIRED AVAILABILITY

1-6 months overseas stay including a period of leave to be taken at the end of the mission in agreement with the coordinator. The minimum mission duration is 1 month.
