“Without EMERGENCY, I wouldn’t be here to tell my story.”
Ajmal and his nephew were riding a motorcycle to visit his father in the hospital when they were in a road traffic accident.
An ambulance brought Ajmal from a hospital in Wardak province to EMERGENCY’s Surgical Centre in Kabul. The accident had caused serious trauma to his head and chest, and multiple bone fractures in his arms and left leg.
When he arrived, our colleagues immediately took Ajmal to the operating theatre for the urgent treatment he needed, completely free of charge.
“I am thankful to EMERGENCY hospital,” he tells us. “Without EMERGENCY, I wouldn’t be here to tell my story.”
In the first six months of 2023, more than four in every ten patients admitted to our Kabul hospital were treated for civilian trauma from incidents like traffic accidents and workplace injuries.
