Start of activities
In the Ponticelli district, free basic medical services and guidance to facilitate access to the healthcare system.
Our Outpatient Clinics offer free basic and specialist medical services and socio-sanitary assistance to facilitate access to the healthcare system to those who need it.
Cultural mediators inform patients about their rights, help them access the public health service, accompany them in case they have to undergo visits or specialist examinations at public facilities, deal with the documents for issuing STP codes (Temporarily Present Foreigner) and ENI (non registered European citizens), guaranteeing access to the public health service for foreigners and EU citizens.
A nursing clinic for injections, check ups, therapy monitoring, medication, and a psychological support service for the most vulnerable, is also available at the outpatient clinic in Naples.
EMERGENCY’s Social Project in Ponticelli
In addition, we run a project to provide assistance and guidance on social services, helping people navigate the available support measures and tackling the social issues that often act as a barrier to accessing healthcare – including administrative, bureaucratic or linguistic barriers.
The initiative enables the identification of cross-cutting needs (related to housing, labour market participation, educational support, etc.) and the development of personalised support pathways, helping to reduce exclusion and to promote the right to health and other social rights.
The aim is not to replace or duplicate services already available in the area, but to address existing gaps which hinder access to services and benefits. The approach aims to make accessing the network of public and private support services and benefits fair and inclusive for the most vulnerable sections of the population – amongst both Italian and foreign nationals.
The building housing EMERGENCY’s Outpatient Clinic has been provided by the City of Naples; we have renovated and equipped it also thanks to the contribution of the Tavola Valdese and the funds raised through the SMS solidarity campaign “Health is a right for everyone”.
